Canada passport, visa & work permit photo rules
Not for a Canadian passport. Canadian passport photos must be taken in person by a commercial photographer or photo studio, for paper applications and online renewals alike. Photos you take yourself, print at home or edit are not accepted. Why, and what to do instead →
The editor below starts on the Canada IEC work permit photo instead: CropPass can make that one.
- Passport: 50×70 mm, head 31–36 mm, taken in person by a commercial photographer or studio, never edited
- IEC work permit upload: JPEG of at least 420×540 px, 60–240 KB, head 31–36 mm in a 35×45 mm frame
- Visitor visa and study permit photos: the same 35×45 mm frame and 31–36 mm head; check your application for upload limits
- PR card and citizenship photos also need a commercial photographer
