These terms apply when you use the CropPass website or buy a CropPass pass. By using the site you agree to them. We have kept them short and in plain English; if anything is unclear, email us at support@croppass.com.
What CropPass does
CropPass is a web tool that crops and resizes your photo to the published passport, visa and ID photo rules of the countries it covers, checks it against those rules, and produces files for printing or uploading. All photo processing happens in your browser: your photo is never uploaded to us.
CropPass is an independent service and is not affiliated with any government agency. Our presets follow the rules each authority publishes, but those rules change. Always check the current requirements of the authority you are applying to.
Free features and passes
Cropping, resizing, the compliance check and a watermarked preview are free. To download the full-quality files you need a one-time pass. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically.
- Person pass: for 1 person, up to 3 source photos (so retakes are covered), every format and document CropPass offers, valid for 30 days from purchase.
- Family pass: for up to 4 people, up to 12 source photos in total, every format and document CropPass offers, valid for 30 days from purchase.
A source photo is a photo you add to the tool. Each different source photo you download with a pass counts toward its limit; downloading the same photo again in other sizes, formats or documents does not.
The price is shown before you pay and on your receipt. A pass is for the people it covers and may not be resold or shared.
How your pass is stored
CropPass has no accounts. When you buy a pass, your browser receives a signed unlock token, which is stored in that browser on that device and unlocks your downloads.
- If you clear your browser data, use a private window, or switch device or browser, the pass will not be there.
- You can restore it while it is valid with the email address you used at checkout and the receipt number from your Stripe receipt.
- If you can't restore it, email us at support@croppass.com and we will help.
- After 30 days the pass expires and downloads lock again. Files you have already downloaded are yours to keep.
Payments
Passes are sold through Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record (reseller) for your purchase. Stripe processes your payment, calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt. Stripe's terms shown at checkout also apply to the purchase. We never see your full card details.
Prices are in US dollars unless checkout shows otherwise. Your bank may charge a currency conversion fee.
No guarantee of acceptance
Passport, visa and ID authorities decide whether to accept a photo. CropPass sizes and checks your photo against their published rules, but it can't check everything they look at, for example whether the photo is recent, a true likeness, in focus, evenly lit, or unedited where editing is not allowed. We therefore do not guarantee that any authority will accept a photo.
That is why the preview and a watermarked sample are free: use them to check your photo before you buy a pass.
You are responsible for choosing the right country and document, and for checking the authority's current rules before you submit.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use photos of someone without their permission (photos of your own children, or of people you are helping with their application, are fine)
- use CropPass to make forged, fraudulent or misleading identity photos or documents
- get around the pass system, or share, resell or tamper with unlock tokens
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell the service, or overload it with automated requests
- use CropPass in any way that breaks the law
We may cancel a pass that is used in breach of these terms.
Your photos and our software
Your photos stay yours, and because processing happens in your browser we never receive them. The CropPass software, design and written content belong to us; you may use them to make photos for yourself and the people you are helping.
Third-party software
CropPass uses open-source components, including libheif (LGPL-3.0). Their notices and licence texts are at /licenses/NOTICES.txt.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep CropPass running and its presets accurate, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, pause or stop features.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, CropPass is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as missed travel, application fees, delays, or the cost of photos taken elsewhere. Our total liability to you for any claim about a pass is limited to the amount you paid for that pass.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Cancellation and refunds
A pass gives you digital content straight away. If you live in the UK or the EU, the law normally gives you 14 days to cancel a purchase. Before checkout opens, you tick a box to say that you want your pass to start now and that you understand you lose this 14-day cancellation right. Once you have paid and your downloads unlock, you can no longer cancel.
Passes are non-refundable once bought, with two exceptions:
- If we cancel your pass, or stop offering paid downloads before it expires, through no fault of yours, we refund it.
- If you were charged twice by mistake, we refund the duplicate payment.
If a file is technically faulty, we will fix or replace it. See Refunds.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. Changes do not affect passes bought before the change, unless the law requires it.
