How to make your Singapore online passport photo (400×514 px)
- Take or choose a photo. Face the camera in even light, against a wall that fits the background rule: white. Upload it as a JPEG, PNG or HEIC file; it stays on your device.
- Line up the frame. CropPass crops to the 200:257 shape of the file and marks where your head goes (56–78% of the height). Drag and zoom until your head sits inside the guides.
- Download the file. In the download step, check that "Singapore passport photo (ICA e-Services upload)" is selected and click "Download Singapore passport photo (ICA e-Services upload)". CropPass encodes a 400×514 px JPEG (up to 8 MB) and shows its final size, ready to upload. The preview is free; downloading needs a pass.
Questions and answers
What size is a Singapore passport photo for online applications?
ICA gives one dimension for photos uploaded through its e-Services: 400×514 pixels. The file can be jpg, jpeg, heic, heif or png, up to 8 MB. CropPass exports exactly 400×514 px as a JPEG, which sits far below the size limit.
Can I take my Singapore passport photo with my phone?
Yes. ICA recommends a mobile app made for passport photos, or resizing the photo in editing software on your computer. It doesn't recommend selfies and suggests asking someone to take the photo for you. Whichever way you take it, the photo must not be altered or enhanced, so CropPass only crops and resizes it.
Can I wear glasses or a headscarf in the photo?
ICA's dos and don'ts allow spectacles with clear, untinted lenses as long as your eyes are fully visible, and coloured contact lenses are not allowed. Head gear or attire must be dark in colour against the white background, with your face, eyes and shoulders fully visible.
Can I reuse an older photo from my last passport?
No. ICA asks for a new coloured photo with each new application, taken within the last 3 months. It also turns away photos that are blurred, pixelated, flipped or distorted, so use the original file from your camera rather than a screenshot or a copy from a messaging app.
